    Kickin’ for College & Shootin’ for the Stars

    Who is eligible?
    Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors from Spearfish High School

    How does it work?
    Come to the selected Spartan home football/ basketball games. All Spearfish High School Students, who show their Student ID, will have the opportunity to enter their name into a drawing. At half-time, ten tickets will be chosen from that drawing. Those ten Students will get a Beanie and an opportunity to kick a field goal/ shoot a basket. If they make the field goal/ basket then their name goes into a drawing for a $1,000 Scholarship that will be drawn at the end of the season. One name will be drawn from all of the entries, for both football and basketball. Both Students will each win
    $1,000 from the Real Estate Center of Spearfish, payable to the college (or vocational school) of their choice. Scholarship money is to be used at the beginning of their second semester in that school.

    KICKIN’ OFF THE SEASON

    The Real Estate Center of Spearfish Does It Again! Spearfish High School Students lined up for their chance to kick a field goal, at the Spartan’s first home football game of the season. Michaela Anderson, Jacindan Clausen and Jared Hicks successfully made the 10 yard field goal, and are now eligible for the season-end drawing of the $1,000 Scholarship. Whitney Bartels, Chance Kinghorn, Treonna Kratz, Kelsey Maskell, Adam Neuerberg and Maggie Speirs also competed for the field goal. This was the first of 3 games where students will have the opportunity to become eligible for the $1,000 Scholarship. Come to the next home game on Friday, September 12th at 7:00pm for a chance to kick a field goal. Keep your eyes and ears open for two more $1,000 Scholarships, Shooting for the Stars and the Scholastic Scholarship, that The Real Estate Center of Spearfish will be sponsoring later on in the school year.     ONE MORE OPPORTUNITY TO KICK
     

    Nik Graslie, Ben Larson and Daniel Ringwood successfully kicked the 10 yard field goal qualifying them for the $1,000 Kickin' for College Scholarship, sponsored by the Real Estate Center of Spearfish. Other students who kicked were Gabriel Chavez, Kyle Ellingson, Emily Ingwerson, Treanna Kratz, Kelsey Maskell, Jade Miller and Alyssa Shoemake. Be sure to attend the last home game on Friday, October 10th for the last opportunity to qualify for the season-end drawing of the $1,000 Scholarship. Spearfish Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors, please bring your Student ID to be eligible. Keep your ears and eyes open for two more $1,000 Scholarships, Shootin' for the Stars and the Scholastic Scholarship, that the Real Estate Center of Spearfish will be sponsoring later on in the school year.

     

    SUCCESSFUL KICKIN' FOR COLLEGE SEASON
     

    Zach Meyerink and Deryk Ulmer successfully kicked the 10 yard field goal, qualifying them for the Kickin' for College $1,000 Scholarship sponsored by the Real Estate Center of Spearfish. Other students who kicked were Daniel Ringwood, Tonya Wenzel, Treonna Kratz, Maggie Spiers, Derik Geuke, Hannah Nouis, Alberto Mendez and Hannah Wahier. The drawing for the $1,000 Kickin' for College Scholarship will take place during half time at the first boy's home Spartan basketball game on Friday, December 12th. Come to the selected home basketball games for a chance to qualify for the $1,000 Shooting for the Stars Scholarship that the Real Estate Center of Spearfish is also sponsoring.

     

     

    Scholastic Scholarship

    Eligibility Requirements
    1. Students graduating from Spearfish High School in 2009
    2. Minimum GPA 2.5
    3. Recipient must attend full time in a 2+ year accredited higher education institution

    Application Requirements
    1. One personal letter of reference
    2. One letter of reference from a teacher or counselor
    3. One letter of reference from employer, if applicable
    4. Most recent high school transcript
    5. A statement of other financial resources for financing your education
    6. A 200 - 400 word original essay on a subject that is important to you
    7. A biography including:
            a. Name, Address, Phone #, Parent(s) Names
            b. School involvement and positions held
            c. Community involvement and positions held
            d. Career goals
            e. Other achievements or volunteerism
            f. A brief statement of higher education plans

    Applications will be available at the Spearfish High School Guidance Office January 2009. Please deliver completed application to the Guidance Office at SHS, by April 15, 2009.
    A selection committee made up of representatives of The Real Estate Center of Spearfish will select the recipient based on financial need, community involvement and scholastic ability. 
    The $1,000 Scholarship will be awarded to the recipient to use in their second semester of their Freshman year of higher education.
